This is from my collection of paintings made in a residency in the West of Ireland in September 2023. I visited the Blasket Islands whilst there and became fascinated by the history of the island and the community who lived there until the 1950s.

I had seen photos of the Curach boats, which were handmade and took people to the mainland, I found a black and white photo and introduced colour to imagine a summer’s day on the island.
